The summer of the headband...

(...and the year of fake mustaches, apparently.)

Cheers!

Oh my goodness, yesterday was National Sunglasses Day. Sorry for the delay but better late than never, right? So here's to you, sunglasses! With your dark shades and trendy shapes. You keep my eyes from squinting and the future crows feet at bay. Thank you for constantly transforming your style and being one cheap accessory. Cheers!

ALSO...

I miss this boy a lot and this is my last post for tonight/today sorry it's so gushy. BUT, I had such a grand ol' time in Nashville with him (partly due to photo booths and food) that I just can't wait until I see him again...whenever that will be. Hopefully soon!

I have realized...

Sometimes I like polar opposite things. Like Star Wars, Say Yes to the Dress, Bob's Burgers and Pinterest boards featuring hairstyles and recipes. The (semi-crude) nerd in me wrestles with the wondrous homemaker in me daily. Also, I like certain things one day (like bananas) and want nothing to do with them the next. But I'm pretty sure that's fairly normal...right?

Oh, life.

Watching this right now...

...and crying. Weird. Love it.

Nashville, ho!

Nashville is one of the raddest cities seeped in history I've ever visited. During my stay we saw lots of live music...

 ...took some photobooth pictures...

...went on strolls up and down Music Square...

(we're big Brooks and Dunn fans, my family and I)
...took a stroll down the pedestrian bride. There was a Kenny Chesney concert that same night so it was pretty packed with plenty of good people watching...
...ate some AMAZING bar-b-que that made my hair smell like beef brisket for the rest of the day (not complaining)...
 ...ate some wonderful pancakes...
...were serenaded by a cute little country band while waiting in line for said amazing pancakes...
...and ate some delicious homemade popsicles from Las Paletas. As you can see we ate and ate and ATE this weekend. Now off to spin class because obviously I love food.

I am off to Nashville!

In t-minus una hora I will be loading up the car, driving to the airport and leaving on a jet plane for the good ol' city of Nashville, Tennessee...
...it was so fun visiting last year. Can't wait to be in the land of all things rock 'n roll for a few days.

I look forward to seeing old friends...
...eating brunch at the pancake pantry...

 ...touring music row...

...and visiting the Tin Roof (and other places) to see lots of lovely live music!

Brides are so beautiful...

I don't know what it is lately...maybe the fact that it's officially wedding season...or the fact that one of my best friends just got married this past weekend...

...but I have come to love weddings, brides, dresses and tuxes more than I ever have been willing to admit in my life. This is not to say I am going (or wanting) to be planning my wedding anytime in the near future. I just love all the creative possibilities available when it comes to planning such a fun occasion filled with family, friends and love.
I just couldn't get to the Roberts' wedding quickly enough while driving in the fast lane to good ol' Oklahoma City, OK.

It was also a time I got to reunite with  most of my old roomies! I don't think I'll ever stop missing them.
I was so glad I got to snap such an adorable picture of the bride and her father. It was such a sweet moment.
And we had cake! (Actually I forgot to eat cake...too busy dancing the night away! Which, I have decided, is my FAVORITE part of weddings.)
There was also the absolute cutest flower girl named Ella who insisted on dancing with everyone. A-DOR-A-BLE!

NYC Continued:

Now that the dog drama is over and done with I can finally post more about the lovely NYC...unfortunately due to unforeseeable happenings (aka leaving my phone in a cab and therefore losing it forever) I am not able to post as many pictures as I would like...but here are a few digital keepsakes nonetheless:
A lovely dinner of salad, shrimp and crab cakes made for my sublet roomies...
...one picture of the Empire State Building from a Kappa Kappa Gamma alum rooftop party. Let me tell you, my lovely kappa family has a strong alum society in the Big Apple, which I absolutely love...
...and then someone was nice enough to leave me a cookie in my Monday-morning cab ride! Breakfast of champions!*

*No, I did not actually eat the cookie. I may be many things, but absolutely disgusting with no regard to sanitary food-prepping/eating procedures is not one of them, my friends.

FOUND: One very dirty dog who's in a lot of trouble.

ATTENTION ALL: DOG FOR SALE!
If anyone would like a 12-year-old Shih Tzu who likes to escape the backyard during thunder storms then boy, do I have the perfect pup for you!

Apparently this little stinker was wondering around our Texas neighborhood the other day/night. THANKFULLY one very nice woman was able to pick her up before anything terrible happened to her...unless you consider being caked in mud to be terrible. Sandy has since been groomed and had a good, thorough teeth brushing...I told her to think of it as punishment for running away from her oh-so-loving and caring family who only feeds her the good dog food (multiple times a day!) and sneaks her treats at the dinner table nightly.

This is one fat, spoiled Shih Tzu we have on our hands but I love her all the same.

My dog is missing...

...and that is why (due to grief and time spent roaming around looking for her) my posting will be delayed until further notice.

Poor baby.

Out there all alone...or with some strange (but hopefully nice!) family. I hope we find her soon.

Yes please, NYC

Having just a grand ol' time in this grand ol' city. Despite losing my phone and having to buy a new one today, I am easily slipping back into the Manhattan way of life. Pictures to come soon I promise!
Life is so gravy sometimes.

So far I really like June...

As you can see, lately most of my time has been spend dog-sitting. Not complaining (at all!) because I love my little doggie, but I am excited to get some human interaction [overload] when I get to NYC later this week.
I've also spent some time reading and hanging out in my MOST favorite book store (located in Rice Village, Houston, TX).
I've spent the rest of my days down on the beautiful island of Tiki, TX. Fishing and exploring have turned into two of my favorite summer pastimes.

...browsing bike shops and eating snow cones are two pretty fun pastimes too...
We also had NO idea Galveston had such a strong art community. Saturday night my mom, dad and I went on a lovely stroll down Post Office street on Galveston Island (the main island located 30 seconds south of Tiki, where our house is). Wine and appetizers are complementary and the shops stay open late so you have plenty of time to browse around, eat some dinner and come on back to purchase some lovely island-inspired art. We had a lovely time with some interesting people!

...including the owners of this bedazzled car. It was embellished bumper to bumper with beads, plaques, stickers...you name it...there was even an incense holder on the sides of the car (!). Very creative. Not saying I would want to put that stuff on my sweet little silver honda...but to each their own.
With a half-smile (because it's always so bittersweet leaving Tiki,) I was off and headed back to our lovely suburbia home.
